Who We Are
Partnering to build a world where all children Safe
At Shallome of Zion Foundation, we firmly believe that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to thrive. Unfortunately, many orphaned children in our community lack the necessities, educational opportunities, and emotional support they require. Therefore, we are reaching out to request support for our cause.
For social and economic transformation of young single mothers/orphans and street children, with emphasis on girls. We do this by empowering and equipping them to acquire training, quality formal education and entrepreneurial skills, to stop the increasing incidence of abuse, crime and moral decline. To be independent and able to sustain their children.
To establish a refuge for street children in Ghana where they stay for a long term to undergo skills and business training – arranging on the job training with local businesses.

Our Approach
Challenges we Address
Educational Challenges
Poor academic performance in government basic schools under our program
Some students scoring below 20% in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)
Many students struggling with basic literacy skills
Social Issues
About 80% of schoolchildren living with non-biological parents.
10% residing with unrelated guardians.
Lack of parental control and supervision.
Vulnerability to negative influences like substance abuse, quick money schemes, and prostitution
Root Causes
Poverty
Historical exploitation: Children of past university students who exploited local girls for services
Abandoned teenage mothers and their children
Consequences
Rising juvenile crime rates
Recruitment of vulnerable children by armed gangs
Threat to community safety and security
These interconnected challenges create a cycle of
vulnerability that perpetuates poverty and crime,
making it difficult for affected youth to break free
without targeted, holistic intervention.
01.
— Our Mission
To lead, inspire, and empower vulnerable young people and women through character-based skill training
02.
— Our Vision
Our vision is to become a globally-recognized social enterprise and community service group, training skillful and competent youth of character in support of stronger communities. This vision drives our mission: to lead, inspire, and empower vulnerable young people and women through character-based skill training.
03.
— How We Work
At the heart of our work is Mindset Education, through which we strive to improve the lives of vulnerable young people and women via Character and Competence-based skill training. This approach not only equips participants with practical skills but also instills the values and mindset necessary for long-term success and positive community impact.
The cornerstone of Shallome of zion’s approach is our commitment to providing comprehensive, free services to the most vulnerable youth across Ghana. Our flagship initiative, the Halfway House model, has been replicated in various communities, offering not just safe accommodation but a transformative experience for early teens under the age of 18.
Our program begins with temporary separation, removing at-risk teens from negative environments and immersing them in supportive, nurturing spaces. In these safe havens, youth receive:
Intensive skills training and mentoring aimed at redirecting their mindsets towards positive futures
Educational support to address literacy challenges and improve academic performance
Vocational training to provide practical, marketable skills
Character development to build resilience against negative influences
Understanding the complex realities faced by many of our participants across Ghana, we go a step further by securing age-appropriate job placements for those who need to support their families. These legitimate income sources allow teens to contribute to their households while continuing their personal growth through our programs.
To ensure the sustainability and scalability of our work, we’ve developed an innovative revenue model that we’ve successfully implemented in various locations. This includes offering paid training courses, commercializing products made by our program participants, and operating guest house services where feasible.
